  • This little food truck is worth going out of your way for. I had the mushroom stir fry. Delicious and the most unusual mushrooms I ever had. Many of the mushrooms in the dish had been locally foraged. Everyone else in my family had locally hunted meat. And they loved their dishes as well. Great to support a local business as Hot Springs recovers.

  • Marc delivered excellent service and had a great selection of food. I really enjoyed the boar skewers and the trout dish! I’m already looking to go back soon to get some of the jerky they sell. Most of the menu items are gluten free by default too which is great!

  • Hot Springs, NC – Where the Trail Meets Ancestral traditions Nestled in the heart of Hot Springs, where the Appalachian Trail breathes life into this mountain town, Hunt & Gather Wild Food is a sacred stop for the soul. More than just a food truck—it’s a celebration of ancestral wisdom, wild nourishment, and the deep-rooted traditions of Appalachian culture. Chef and owner Mark is a steward of something truly special. We had the honor of sharing a meal here, and every dish felt like a story—one told through heritage, earth, and fire. We savored the Rabbit and Dumplings, rich with Southern comfort and slow-cooked care. The Bison Bulgogi, kissed with ginger and garlic, offered a bold and grounding bite of local Carolina strength. The Laap Pa Trout, dressed in mountain mint and lime, tasted like a cool stream winding through ancient forest. And the Wild Mushroom Stirfry, with its medley of fungi and nettles, was like tasting the forest floor after a spring rain—deep, earthy, and nourishing. Mark pours heart into everything he does, from the pristine setup of his mobile kitchen to the warmth of his welcome. Whether you’re a thru-hiker, a seeker of real food, or simply someone hungry for something honest, this place is a refuge. It honors the past while feeding the present. Hunt & Gather is not just a meal—it’s an experience, a reconnection, a prayer of thanks to the land and those who walk it.

  • Ok, this place is in my top 3 food trucks of all time. We are here 2 days in a row and tried almost everything on the menu. The food is outstanding. Perfectly seasoned and cooked. I promise you can't go wrong stopping in.

  • The food here is absolute fire! I had the elk medallions with root mash. Root mash isn’t just mashed potatoes, there are several foraged roots included in the recipe, and it pairs really nice with these delectable elk medallions and sweet nettles. To think i almost didn’t see this place and almost had tacos instead. That would have been a true shame.
